With support from a 2022 PIT-UN Network Challenge Grant, Denise Ferebee (Rust College) and Zina Parker (LeMoyne-Owen College) led a group of faculty from five universities in creating a workbook for educators and students interested in public interest technology. Technology is ubiquitous in everyday experience. However, not every person has access to a smart phone, computer, smart home, etc. Technology access depends on financial means, geographical location, and more.

Public interest technology is an interdisciplinary field that aims to create technology that meets everyone’s needs. This introductory workbook explores foundational areas and topics of the field including:
