Meharry Medical College’s projects led by the Division of Public Health Practice (DPHP) integrates the fields of public health practice and policy, health professions education, community engagement, and technology. We propose to develop the Center for Telehealth Tools for Students and Stakeholders (CTTSS). COVID-19 has impacted the ways patients access care and health professions students are trained. The CTTSS will provide telemedicine skill training for Meharry medical and dental students and residents. In addition, it will provide an innovative experiential learning opportunity for community members and stakeholders. We will utilize standard patients and telemedicine equipment and software to develop case studies and best practices for training students. In order to eliminate disparities in the participation in telehealth visits in rural and minority communities, we will develop a flipped training curriculum for community members where they learn what to expect during telehealth visits and how to maximize communication with their providers. We will host students and community learning teams in our simulation labs on campus.
