As one of America’s leading Christian universities, Pepperdine University supports the mission and work of public interest tech in making our governing institutions more transparent and responsive to the needs of the public. Through our Davenport Institute for Public Engagement (based at our School of Public Policy), we continue to utilize our Challenge Grant funding to train local government officials in the art and science of “smart communities” leadership. Moreover, we’re also training first responders to better apply technology in disaster response. In all of our efforts in this field – inside and outside the classroom – our focus remains on using technology to promote greater civic participation.
