Meet Our Network Challenge Evaluation Committee
The PIT-UN team would like to thank the Evaluation Committee (EC) members for their time and expertise in reviewing the 2022 Network Challenge projects. The EC members represent the breadth and depth of the field of PIT, with expertise in data privacy, cybersecurity, civil justice, human rights, civic tech, accessibility tech, law and society, govt tech, and more. They are inspirational role models for students across PIT-UN who work to improve the role technology can play in communities and organizations.
In the videos below, Andreen Soley, director of PIT at New America and Afua Bruce, a public interest technologist and DEI consultant, talk about how the recent landscape of PIT-UN affirmed the need to prioritize social justice and equity. Their conversation touch on the soon-to-be-announced winning Network Challenge grant projects, the DEI framework and the evaluation committee members.

Participating in the PIT-UN evaluation process helped me gain a better understanding of the diversity of projects available throughout our passionate and distributed/decentralized communities. I was a little in awe of the brilliance and diversity of the submissions and eager to see what comes from the successful projects.

It is amazing to see the wealth of projects and ideas that are introducing public interest technology to students in their university years. The evaluation process for the committee members was clear, straightforward, and rewarding. I look forward to continuing with the PIT-UN team moving forward.
